Ayup! We’ve reached a rather interesting phase in the evolution of blogging. Everything has already been written about, and AI is blissfully regurgitating our words. So where does this leave us?
Is there even any point in writing blog posts any more? How can we add value to a mass of web content? Who are we even writing for now?
The answers can be found in a full cycle of writing online. Going back to basics; the beginning of an exciting form of expression. A laptop, a blog, and your unique, individual thoughts and musings.
I Did This. I Think This.
Generic garbage, no matter how well optimised, isn’t going to cut it any more. It’s already out there in mass abundance. What doesn’t currently exist, though, is your way of doing things.
Nobody wants your advice, but they might just value your opinion. Especially when it goes against what could be considered normal. Everyone has their own way of doing things. That’s your opportunity.
In a few recent blog posts, I’ve had to rein in a fair amount of unsolicited guidance. I mean, who on earth am I to tell you what to do? Instead, I made it personal. I wrote about my experiences, findings and evaluations. For reasons I still don’t fully understand, folks actually stop by and read what I have to say (thank you).
When you speak, speak sincere, and believe me, friend, everyone will hear
Fontaines D.C. fans know. Tuuuuuuuuune! This line from A Hero’s Death sums the post up perfectly. Well, other than communicating in written form, rather than spoken.
As the web becomes awash with beige, impersonal shite, your little corner of the internet becomes even more powerful. Firstly, it’s a highly rewarding form of expression. Secondly, your community, no matter how big or small, will take the time to consume your words.
- Write about how you do it
- Write about your opinions
- Write about something you did
